Dynamic profile of DNA methylation during fiber initiation in Xu142fl and Xu142. Dot blot assays using specific anti-5mC (upper) and anti-6mA (lower) antibodies showed the global 5mC and 6mA signals in gDNA extracted from intact ovules of −2, 0, and 5 DPA. Furthermore, the fibers of 5 DPA ovules were also stripped for gDNA extraction and dot blot. The amounts of gDNA loaded are indicated on the left. The experiment was carried out in three replications and showed similar results. One representative was displayed here
